Hualien train derailment

On 2 April 2021, at 09:28 NST (01:28 UTC), a Taroko Express train operated by the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) derailed at the north entrance of Qingshui Tunnel in Heren Section, Xiulin Township, Hualien County, Taiwan. It killed at least 51 people and injured more than 202 others.[1][2]
At the time of the accident, the train was carrying 488 passengers.[3] The eight-carriage train derailed in a tunnel north of Hualien City, after crashing with a construction truck which fell off the bridge above it.
