Volary (Czech pronunciation: [ˈvolarɪ] ⓘ; German: Wallern) is a town in Prachatice District in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 3,800 inhabitants. It is located in the Bohemian Forest, close to the border with Germany. An area in the northern part of the town with timber-framed Alpine-type buildings is well preserved and is protected by law as a village monument reservation.
