Central Tilba is located around 10 kilometres (6 mi) south south west of Narooma and is 60 kilometres (37 mi) north of Bega.[4] The entire village is classified by the National Trust as the Central Tilba Conservation Area.[5]
Behind the towns sits Gulaga / Mount Dromedary, an extinct volcano which created the geological composition of the area, including the nearby Najanuka / Little Dromedary Mountain to the south.[6]
