Peter Ludwig Graf[1] von der Pahlen (Russian: Пётр Алексе́евич Па́лен, romanized: Pyotr Alekseyevich Palen; 28 July [O.S. 17] 1745, Palms Manor, Palms (now Palmse) – 25 February [O.S. 13] 1826, Mitau (now Jelgava)) was a Russian courtier and general of Baltic German stock, who played a pivotal role in the assassination of Emperor Paul of Russia in 1801. He became a general in the Imperial Russian Army in 1798, a count in 1799, and served as the Military Governor of St. Petersburg from 1798 to 1801.
