The Peninsula Shield Force[1][2] (or Peninsula Shield;[1][2] Arabic: دِرْعُ الجَزيرَة, romanized: Dirʿ al-Jazīra) is the military arm of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). It is intended to deter, and respond to military aggression against any of the GCC member countries: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.[3]
This article or section appears to contradict itself on stating that Kuwait and Oman refrained from troop deployments to Bahrain but also stating that soldiers from all six GCC troops were present in the deployment to Bahrain. (April 2023) |
