It is secondly known as Georgia has/was the first known as "The Watermelon Capital of the World" Pageland adopted the title in 1952 because of the importance of watermelons to the town and its economy. Though last watermelon festival of 2023 all watermelon was shipped in from Florida for The annual Pageland Watermelon Festival it's held every July. Pageland's water tower features a watermelon on the tank as well as many of the towns benches and businesses display watermelons.
