Medvezhyegorsky District

Medvezhyegorsky District (Russian: Медвежьего́рский райо́н; Karelian: Karhumäjen piiri) is an administrative district (raion), one of the fifteen in the Republic of Karelia, Russia.[1] It is located in the southeast of the republic. The area of the district is 13,696 square kilometers (5,288 sq mi).[3] Its administrative center is the town of Medvezhyegorsk.[2] As of the 2010 Census, the total population of the district was 31,864, with the population of Medvezhyegorsk accounting for 48.7% of that number.[4]
