Mar (Classical Syriac: ܡܪܝ Mār(y), written with a silent final yodh; Jewish Babylonian Aramaic: מָר), also Mor in Western Syriac, is an Aramaic word meaning "lord". The corresponding feminine forms in Syriac are Morth and Marth for "lady" (Syriac: ܡܪܬܝ, Mārt(y)).
