Vautmans served as assistant to both senator Valère Vautmans [nl], her uncle, and senator Stef Goris [nl]. She subsequently worked in the cabinet of Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt, and helped him with legalising same-sex marriage in Belgium.[2]
She was elected President of the European Liberal Forum in September 2020.[3]
