Harvey Milk High School (HMHS) is a public high school in the East Village of Lower Manhattan in New York City designed for, though not limited to, gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender young people, as well as those questioning their sexuality and gender identity.[2] It is named after San Francisco, California, supervisor Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man to be elected to a public office in the United States.
