For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Hier war der Siegerübermut der Franzosen auf dem Höhepunkt Marschall [Ferdinand] Foch vor seinem Salonwagen im Walde von Compiègne, wo er die erste schwere Demütigung dem deutschen Volke zufügte, in dem er ihm die schmachtvollsten Waffenstillstandsbedingungen auferlegte, die die Welt jemals gekannt hat. Der zweite von links ist [Maxime] Weygand, der heutige Generalissimus der Franzosen, der sich heute an diese Stunde wahnwitzigen Siegerübermuts besonders nachdrücklich erinnern wird. |
