In Greek mythology, Boeotus (/biːˈoʊtəs/; Greek: Βοιωτός, translit. Boiōtós) was the eponym of Boeotia in Greece. Poseidon fathered both Aeolus and Boeotus with Arne (Melanippe).[1] It was then through Boeotus that Arne became the ancestress of the Boeotians.[2] In some traditions, Boeotus is the father of Ogyges.[3][4]
