Following a 5–0 victory over Werder Bremen on 14 April 2024, Bayer Leverkusen won the Bundesliga title for the first time in club history.[1] It also marked the club's first major trophy since 1993.[2] On 9 May 2024, after a 2–2 draw against Roma in the Europa League semi-final second leg, the club set a new European record for consecutive competitive matches without a loss (49), breaking Benfica's record of 48 games unbeaten set between 1963 and 1965.[3][4][5] In the pursuit of achieving that record, the club succeeded in netting 17 goals during stoppage time and 34 goals from the 80th minute onwards,[6][7] encompassing crucial last-minute match winners or equalizers.[8] Notably, during a 16-game stretch from March 7th to May 12th, 2024, Leverkusen managed to score 18 goals after the 82nd minute, with ten of them being equalizers or match winners. This feat contributed to the team's unbeaten streak of 50 games in all competitions (as of 12 May 2024).
