The 1973–74 Atlanta Hawks season was the 28th season of the franchise, 60th in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Although "Pistol" Pete Maravich finished second in the league in scoring with 27.7 points per game, the Hawks missed the playoffs for the first time in 12 seasons. Following the season, the Hawks would trade Maravich to the expansion New Orleans Jazz in exchange for Dean Meminger, Bob Kauffman, and four draft picks.[1]
