ടേറ്റം ഭാഷ

ടിമോർ ദ്വീപിൽ സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ഓസ്ട്രണേഷ്യൻ ഭാഷയാണ് ടേറ്റം /ˈtɛtʊm/,[4] അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ടേറ്റൺ. ഇന്തോനേഷ്യയിലെ ബെലു റീജൻസിയിൽ പെട്ട വെസ്റ്റ് ടിമോറിലും അതിർത്തിക്കപ്പുറത്തുള്ള കിഴക്കൻ ടിമോറിലുമാണ് ഇത് സംസാരിക്കുന്നത്. ഇത് കിഴക്കൻ ടിമോറിലെ രണ്ട് ഔദ്യോഗികഭാഷകളിലൊന്നാണ്. കിഴക്കൻ ടിമോറിൽ ഈ ഭാഷയുടെ ഒരു മിശ്രിതരൂപമായ ടേറ്റൺ ദിലി ഒരു രണ്ടാം ഭാഷയെന്ന നിലയിൽ വ്യാപകമായി ഒഴുക്കോടെ സംസാരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നുണ്ട്. പരസ്പരം കേട്ടിട്ടില്ലാത്തവർക്ക് ടേറ്റം ഭാഷയും ടേറ്റുൺ ദിലിയും പരസ്പരം മനസ്സിലാക്കാൻ സാധിക്കാത്തത്ര വ്യത്യാസമുള്ള ഭാഷകളാണ്.[5] വ്യാകരണത്തിലെ ലഘൂകരണം കൂടാതെ കിഴക്കൻ ടിമോറിലെ ഔദ്യോഗിക ഭാഷയായ പോർച്ചുഗീസിൽ നിന്ന് ധാരാളം പദങ്ങൾ കടം കൊണ്ടിട്ടുള്ളതും ഇതിന് കാരണമാണ്.
