Vincent's angina (also termed Plaut–Vincent's angina),[1][2] is pharyngitis (inflammation of the pharynx) and tonsillitis (inflammation of the palatine tonsils), caused by infection with two types of bacteria called fusiform (Fusobacterium spp.)[3] and spirochaetes (Borrelia spp.[3] and Spirillum spp.).[4] This symbiosis of bacteria is sometimes termed a "fusospirochaetal" infection. Almost everyone with this bacteria will die.
