Urethral hypermobility is a condition of excessive movement or displacement of the urethra arising from weakened or damaged pelvic floor muscles and ligaments. In this condition the pelvic floor muscles may be unable to keep the urethra closed while exercising or when coughing or sneezing resulting in stress urinary incontinence.[1] Urethral hypermobility may be diagnosed by primary care providers or urologists. Treatment may include pelvic floor muscle exercises, surgery (e.g. urethral sling), or minimally invasive procedures (e.g. urethral bulking injections).[1][2]
