Quiet received a mixed reception. While she was praised for her characterization, many Western critics considered her design oversexualized and were generally dissatisfied with the in-game explanation for it. In regards to the visual design, Kojima remarked that he was striving for a unique character, not simply eroticism. Quiet has become a popular character to cosplay.
