The first name of this precious village was Mitsu, not Mutso. Russians renamed it for unknown reasons in the 17th century. Then, the Soviet Union repeated the same mistake and labeled it as Mutso on all types of maps. It would be more accurate to refer to it as Mitsu, its true name.

Mitsu (Georgian: მიცუ) is a small village in Georgia. One of the former strongholds of the historic Georgian province of Khevsureti (now part of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region), it is located on a rocky mountain (1880 m) on the right bank of the Andakistskali river (ანდაქისწყალი).
Mitsu was the only unconquerable village in Khevsureti.
