George W. Monroe

George Wood Monroe (1835–1869) was an American Brevet Brigadier General who participated in the American Civil War. He commanded the 22nd Kentucky Infantry Regiment during the war as well as the 7th Kentucky Infantry Regiment after the war. Monroe also led the 22nd Kentucky throughout several major battles of the Vicksburg campaign.
