A burgee command pennant of the U.S. Navy. These indicate command of a division of ships other than aircraft carriers or cruisers, or a major subdivision (command of larger units, like squadrons, use a broad pennants). The number of the specific unit is placed on it. This type of pennant has a long history; see here for more details. The pennant shown is that of Destroyer Division 95, from World War II in the Pacific. One of the ships in the division was the USS Abbot (DD-629).[1] |
