Summary
DescriptionPaniqui,Tarlacjf5565 10.JPG |
English: Paniqui, Tarlac[1] is a first class municipality in the province of Tarlac, Philippines. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 87,730 people. Geographically, Paniqui is situated between the towns of Gerona in the south and Moncada in the north. Paniqui came from the word "paniki" which means "bat" in Tagalog. The town has a feature of caves that house a population of bats. It is the birthplace of former President Corazon C. Aquino. Coordinates: 15°40'33"N 120°32'36"E[2]Land Area: 105.16 km² ZIP Code: 2307[3]The birth of Paniqui traces back to1712 when the provincial government of Pangasinan sent a group of men south of Bayambang, Pangasinan for the expansion of the Christian Faith. The pioneering group was led by two brothers, Raymundo and Manuel Paragas of Dagupan and established the Local Government in a sitio called “manggang marikit” (mango of an unmarried woman) now a part of Guimba, Nueva Ecija. ::Surprisingly in this sitio, they saw an extraordinary number of flying mammals called “pampaniki” by Ilocanos. This is where the name Paniqui was derived from.[4]This place is situated in Tarlac, Region 3, Philippines, its geographical coordinates are 15° 40' 8" North, 120° 34' 50" East and its original name (with diacritics) is Paniqui.[5]PANIQUI: CITADEL OF ANTIQUITY[6] |
