English: Nelson River Bipoles 1 and 2 terminus at Rosser, Manitoba, Canada. The tallest pylons in the image are long distance pylons, and the pointed "Christmas tree" pylons behind are High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) anchor pylons where the HVDC lines enter the Dorsey Converter Station. This sort of bipolar transmission line would be used for long distance electricity transmission projects needed for greater reliance on alternative energy. Projects go by the names: supersmart grid, unified smart grid, super grid, or mega grid. |
