Summary
DescriptionMegalorchestia californiana.jpg |
Don't know if this IS a Sand Crab since it doesn't look like Jerry Kirkhart's sand crab image on Wikipedia. I'm wondering if this might be a young version of the creature (he's a bit smaller than adult sand crabs and not as wide). I found three or four look-alikes, all headed towards the water after a wave receded. Any ID help would be appreciated. Oh, one more thing - they can jump a little, too. Pacific Sand Crab or Sand Mole - maybe Emerita analoga - maybe Thanks Marlin - Megalorchestia californiana, a distant relative of the sand crab (emphasis on 'distant'). |
