It is helpful to think of leaves as having a shape and an arrangement. The chart here mingles the two features. Alternate, rosette, peltate, bipinnate, trifoliate, even pinnate, odd pinnate, digitate, whorled, and opposite have more to do with arrangement than the actual shape of the individual leaf.
File:Leaf morphology no title.svg is a vector version of this file. It should be used in place of this PNG file when not inferior.
