English: Hurricane Idalia of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season as it approached the Big Bend region of Florida. Idalia was at its peak intensity as a Category 4 major hurricane when the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) acquired this nighttime visible image aboard NOAA's NOAA-20 satellite on August 30, 2023. It had 1-min sustained winds of 130 mph (210 km/h) and an official minimum central pressure of 940 mbar (27.8 inHg) at the time this image was captured. |
