Summary
DescriptionGoldsboro bomb Weapon No 1 color.jpg |
English: The Mk 39 Mod 2 nuclear bomb designed as Weapon No. 1 in the 1961 Goldsboro B-52 accident, as it was discovered by EOD teams. The photograph is from a different angle than File:Goldsboro Bomb Weapon 1 (LA-UR-20-22180).jpg this other one. The color is probably hand-tinting to a grayscale photograph (as the original scan shows considerable signs of color shift due to aging photopaper, which has been removed here, and the colors are "flat" and not exact in the ways of older methods). All Mk 39 casings in museums depict it as being a drab olive green. The original image carried the caption "FIN AND BODY DAMAGE" underneath it, along with the number B0332. |
