DescriptionF-15C 53FS 36FW Aviano 1993.jpeg | A U.S. Air Force McDonnell Douglas F-15C-37-MC Eagle (s/n 84-0014) from the 53rd Fighter Squadron, 36th Fighter Wing, based at Bitburg air base, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, is met by maintenance personnel at Aviano air base, Italy, after a mission over Bosnia to enforce the No-Fly Zone on 1 June 1993. 84-0014 was used to shoot down aircraft: on 20 March 1991 Capt. John T. Doneski (53rd FS) shot down an Iraqi Sukhoi Su-22M with an AIM-9M Sidewinder during operation "Desert Storm". On 26 March 1999 Capt. Joe McMurry (493rd FS, 48th FW) fired an AIM-120 at two Serbian MiG-29Bs, but the kills were credited to his wingman. |
