Summary
DescriptionDoncaster railway station geograph-2261727-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg |
English: Line-up of steam at Doncaster Station in 1953. View southwards, towards London and the South on the ex-Great Northern East Coast Main Line; also towards Lincoln etc. on the Joint Line and Sheffield etc. on the ex-Great Central. I was standing near the north end of Platform 7, where B1 4-6-0 No. 61125 has arrived on a train from Sheffield Victoria. On the left is A2/2 4-6-2 (rebuilt from a P2 2-8-2) No. 60503 'Lord President', which had failed - short of steam! - on the 12.10 King's Cross - Newcastle, and in the middle is A3 4-6-2 No. 60044 'Melton' about to take this express onward. |
