DescriptionCobden-Sanderson Binding 1886 The Princess for Mitford.png |
English: A book bound 1886 by Thomas James Cobden-Sanderson for Clementine Mitford as a gift for her husband Bertram Mitford. The book is The Princess (1847) by Lord Alfred Tennyson (1809-1892) Comments to the quality of the binding : The binder's notes observe that "the design of back-side varies from front. The 'M' is inverted in the lower half [of the back]. This, an accident, [is] a great improvement. Time 54 3/4 hours. Undercharged." (1) − "... a superstar binding in all ways - it is being offered for $65,000." Boktryst, A Nest for Book Lovers, 2011 |
