On 15 January 2024, the Premier League charged Nottingham Forest for breaching the league's profit and sustainability rules.[2] On 18 March, Forest were found guilty and were deducted four points,[3] with the club appealing the decision on 26 March.[4] On 7 May, it was announced that Forest had failed in their appeal, and their four point deduction was upheld.[5]
Forest secured their Premier League status on the final day of the season, following a 2–1 victory away to Burnley.[6] Forest finished the season with 32 points, breaking the previous record for the lowest points tally of any surviving Premier League team set by West Bromwich Albion in the 2004–05 season, with 34.[7]
