Baryonyx[1] was a genus of biped theropod dinosaurs and a member of the family Spinosauridae. He represents one of the best preserved theropods of Europe. Baryonyx lived about 125 million years ago, a nearly complete skeleton was recovered in England.
He was about 8,5 metres long, his characters are the crocdilian-like skull and an unusually big claw on the thumb. He ate fish and probably had a semi-aquatic lifestyle. Due to fossilisized stomach contents and the well-preserved skeleton from England he is an important model to interpret the lifestlye of other spinosaurids.
